Why are Hyderabadis very emotionally attached to Hyderabad than other people are to their cities?

Answer1:

If we sit in Hyderabad and read the Deccan Chronicle and its Hyderabad Chronicle as our "staple food" we feel the same.  If you go to Kolkata - ( in fact this emotional attachments started with Kolkata and Chennai ) and live there for a minimum of one year, you will not feel leaving that city forever, if and when you leave even after 10 years stay, you feel as if some thing is forgotten somewhere.  The culture is like that.  There are many Industrialists who studied at Calcutta St. Xavier s college, even when they have established their empires at some other place they feel that they owe some thing to the city.

There is a talk about Chennai - if any one other than Tamilian stayed at Chennai for an year, whether he is a Bengali or Telugu or Gujarati - any one - he speaks Tamil to his own people and start hating his own state.

Thank God, Hyderabad is not like that.  When you go to Kolkata you need to adjust to certain culture and in Chennai same thing and in Delhi the culture is not important but your position is your value. Only two cities welcomes you with both hands - Mumbai and Hyderabad where you can find all languages and you are free to have your own way of life and the important thing is that Telugu people will not force their culture on you rather want to learn your language.

Answer2:
I was once talking to a friend of mine who lives here . He said the nawab culture/nawabi air is still there in hyderabad. People get up late , open their shops late and talk to each other politely as if soaking in the city . This cultural past has prevented modernity altering the way of life here . This causes people to be emotionally attached with the city.

However , the same can be said about any city where the past has been preserved by the way of life not through museums and buildings. Calcutta and Bhopal  serve as  outstanding examples.

Answer3:
Even people who come to live in Hyderabad from other cities feel at home . Hyderabad has a cocktail culture which almost suits everyone . Like the above answers, Chennai and Kolkata have a culture of their own which a person from other places takes time to get acclimatised. People once they touch down Hyderabad feel at home.
Personally, I have lived in Chennai and Mysore for brief time. In Mysore, I had to stay in Infosys Mysore, so no contact with outer world. In Chennai, I often observed that people are not ready to help you if u speak to them in any language other than Tamil. Hyderabadi people (except Hyderabad Autos ) are very friendly and very helpful .

Answer4:
